Adidas first released its innovative Megaride running shoe in the early 2000s. With its distinctive sole unit, supportive Bounce cushioning and futuristic design, it became a hugely popular silhouette for the brand. On its 20th anniversary in 2024, the adidas Megaride was honored with a retro release that captures the unique essence of the original shoe.

The upper of the adidas Megaride blends technical mesh with a wraparound synthetic mudguard that contains lines of ventilation holes, making the shoe pleasantly breathable but also durable. A rubberized material encircles the padded neoprene collar and also forms the eyestay, while textile loops support the standard lacing system. Branded overlays accent the heel and toe, the tongue incorporates comfortable padding, and the flanks are adorned with dynamic molded TPU 3-Stripes logos.

The Megaride is supported by a midsole with distinctive open tubes that deliver responsive springiness, solid shock absorption and firm comfort from hell to toe. A substantial heel stack helps stabilize the foot, and the rubber outsole features staggered rows of track-like grip pads that offer powerful traction while also providing the flexibility required for energetic movement.

The adidas Megaride has a futuristic look that evokes the classic design of many Y2K running shoes. Subtle branding appears on the heel, and a heritage ‘a3’ logo decorates the tongue in an homage to the original 2004 silhouette. Meanwhile, the molded sidewall stripes are bold and distinctive, completing the shoe’s standout esthetic.

Since being reintroduced in 2024, the Megaride has been released in several variants, including the O1, which has eye-catching curvaceous design lines and welded elements across the upper alongside open-tube cushioning that only covers the back half of the foot. It has also been combined with the iconic Predator football boot to create an exhilarating hybrid sneaker featuring a sporty foldover tongue and offset lacing, a synthetic leather upper and mesh overlays for breathable comfort and an external heel counter for enhanced lockdown. The adiFOM Megaride incorporates a more substantial layer of foam to help support the structured springiness of the original midsole, while the molded netting and zippered shroud of the S2 edition give it a one-of-a-kind look.

Along with its versatile collection of models, the adidas Megaride has been involved in some stylish collaborations, including a partnership with French-Tunisian influencer and artistic director Taqwa Bint Ali which produced the striking Megaride Mary Jane – a graceful version with a strap fastening system. Later in 2025, independent fashion house Avavav crafted the eccentric Moonrubber Megaride, and lifestyle brand Kith designed two elegant versions of the Predator Megaride, popularizing the silhouette among a broader audience.
