P-6000
In 2019, Nike decided to celebrate its Pegasus running shoes by creating a brand new silhouette inspired by the fashion trends of the new millennium. Known as the Nike P-6000, it was based on two Pegasus models from this era – the 25 and the 2006 – and featured a similar mesh and leather build alongside a classic Waffle outsole.
While it had the look of a retro running shoe, the P-6000 was actually a well-crafted lifestyle sneaker that could also be used for light jogging. It had comfortable cushioning, a lightweight, breathable upper and a hard-wearing, flexible sole unit, making it a great all-round piece of footwear. Meanwhile, its stylish branding paid homage to the original Nike designer: Bill Bowerman.
When the Nike P-6000 was released, it quickly became well-liked for its nostalgic look and high levels of comfort. Soon, Danish sneaker boutique Naked Copenhagen took note, leading to a collaborative sneaker with an eye-catching retro-futurist esthetic typical of the Y2K era.
The shoe’s success saw a collection of new colorways released in 2023 and 2024, including an elegantly elevated version made in partnership with Canadian streetwear brand Makeway, which demonstrated just how impactful the P-6000 had become.
Despite not having any of Nike’s big-name technologies, the P-6000 has been praised as a well-built, comfortable shoe. Its celebration of Nike’s popular Pegasus series and Y2K fashion trends has earned it a loyal following, which continues to grow thanks to its excellent design and classic style.
