Jordan 1 High x Spider-Man ‘Across the Spider-Verse’

This Jordan 1 High x Spider-Man ‘Across the Spider-Verse’ sneaker is the second in the collaboration between these two powerhouses. As such, it has been nicknamed Next Chapter, and it goes with the 2023 follow-up to the 2018 animated movie which continues the story of Miles Morales. Once again, the character can be seen wearing a version of the Air Jordan 1 Chicago – the iconic model on which this shoe is based. It carries the well-known color scheme of this colorway, beginning with its University Red outsole, which has a slight translucence and actually glows bright white in the dark. Meanwhile, it retains the classic tread patterns of circular grip lines in the forefoot and lugs around the heel so that it provides excellent traction underfoot. Layered on top of this sturdy base is an off-white midsole that adds a slightly retro edge to the design. Inside, it contains a mixture of foam and Air cushioning for a typically soft step.

Moving to the upper, the toe box and midfoot panels form an underlayer of premium white leather, the former hosting breathable perforations, the latter narrowing into a thin band around the heel. Atop this lies a series of overlays that are split into different segments made of various high-quality materials, giving the sneaker a compelling eccentricity. The forefoot mudguard has been crafted from University Red leather for the most part, but switches to plush suede on the lateral end. Then, each of the overlays sat behind it has been divided in two – one in University Red, the other with a marbled effect forged of two darker shades of red. Three of the four sections are made from traditional leather, while the plain red medial-side piece is patent leather. This brings it a shiny luster that is matched by the black patent leather used on the collar.

The heel counter combines more panels of University Red and marbled burgundy, the latter pattern covering its central section, the former the suede lateral side and the leather medial side. These effects repeat on the top part of the eyestay, while the rest of it exhibits a pink spotted pattern on the medial side and a captivating polka dot graphic on the lateral one. This last design extends onto the collar wrap as well, its large spots featuring pastel tones of red, blue and yellow. Inside, the lining and insole are coated in a black material that lies gently against the foot, and University Red Nike Air branding has been printed onto the sockliner.

Back on the outer, a set of Air Jordan Wings has been stamped in its familiar place on the lateral collar wrap, here in University Red, and glossy black swooshes reach down the flanks to contrast boldly with the white of the midfoot panels. Black laces tie up over a puffy padded tongue whose underside is bright white, and whose topside has an aged look similar to that seen on the midsole. Finally, a two-tone tongue label of white and University Red with Nike Air text standing out powerfully on its surface completes this eye-catching Air Jordan 1.
