This intricately decorated Jordan 4 Retro is part of a larger collection of sneakers released to mark the 30th anniversary of the Jordan signature line. Its uniquely designed upper gives it a one-of-a-kind aesthetic, while the sole unit provides the usual blend of comfort and traction. To begin with, the outsole has been imbued with herringbone tread patterns facing in a range of different directions to generate comprehensive grip across its entire surface. It is also transparent from heel to toe, with a pleasant tinge of blue running through it and a Jumpman apparent below the arch of the foot. This translucence continues to an extent on the midsole, wrapping upwards to cover parts of its lateral side and the toe. The rest of the polyurethane midsole is formed of two distinct layers – a lower one in white and an upper one in Metallic Silver. This latter piece has an eye-catching sheen to it, while the bottom layer has a clear window in its heel that reveals the Air cushioning hidden inside for supreme comfort.
Above this, the whole length of the white upper displays a dynamic graphic of sketched patterns in a range of intriguing shapes and designs that have earned it the nickname Laser. These drawings show up on the forefoot mudguard, the main overlay, the collar and the quarter, only stopping at the heel to allow space for the large panel that has been placed there. This molded white tab has a Chrome Jumpman rising out of its center, and its upper portion has been formed into a fan shape and embossed with rows of pads, thus making it easy to grip when pulling the shoe on. The Chrome-colored TPU lace cages at the top and bottom of the tongue come in a similar design, but with eyelets pressed into them to accommodate the white laces.
White over-moulded mesh panels have been set into each side of the quarter and the lower part of the tongue to deliver excellent breathability over the foot. Structural wings in the same tone brush the back of these quarter inserts, connecting to the uppermost lace cages to provide added support to the flanks. Inside, the shoe is coated in more silvery gray hues, both on the inner walls and the insole, which has a large 30 inscribed onto it in white as a reference to it being released in the 30th year of Jordan sneakers. The back of the tongue has a similar material covering it and an Air Jordan patch sewn into it, the writing woven upside down so that it is readable when the tongue is folded over. Back on the outer, the top part of the tongue exhibits more sketched graphics and a Chrome label has been placed boldly upon it. Rounding out this celebratory Air Jordan 4 is an embossed Jumpman, which stands like a powerful statue in the center of this shiny label.
